One day my husband cleans out the attic and pulls out his military duffel bag he had during his Air Force career. One particular item includes a camo jacket with “Benson” sewn over the right pocket. My daughter, Claire, loved it and tried it on. This jacket is one of her favorite items in her closet. She usually wears it over a tee, distressed jeans and sneakers.
The creative nature within me wants to embellish it with vintage patches or embroidery. I offer my ideas to my daughter, but she declines. She likes it just the way her Dad wore it. I got my hands on more camo jackets and had fun with them. Each jacket is unique and one of a kind.
Since all the camo jackets I buy are “used,” I love the idea that a military member wore the jacket while serving America. My daughter wears her Dad’s jacket with much pride. If only my Dad kept his military jacket so I could wear it.
